Special thanks to Samantha Nolan for a very informative Crime Prevention Training yesterday. Please check out the “Public Safety” tab on our site for more information about how you can increase your safety.
A few highlights:
-Most crimes can be avoided by reducing “red flags” that criminals are looking for (ie listening to music and texting while walking down the street).
-The best way to help identify a criminal is to remember facial traits and shoes. Most criminals wear “tear aways” (ie easily removable bright colored clothing which witnesses first notice and report but are no longer being worn but the criminal).
-Graffiti is the first sign of criminal activity. Call 311 and report it immediately.
